I just conducted another great interview for the study. Happy weekend!

  • Book #1 (solo) - submit full draft to the publisher (due in December)
  • Book #2 - draft proposal
  • Paper #1 (with colleague A) - draft and present it at conferences in July and September
  • Paper #2 (with colleague B) - draft and submit to special issue (due in August)
  • Paper #3 (with colleague C) - finish draft and submit to journal
  • Paper #4 (with colleague F) - draft and submit to special issue (due in June)
  • Grant #1 (with colleagues G, H, I) - develop and, if we can all agree, submit proposal

June goals:
  • Book #1 - conduct interviews and incorporate interview data
  • Paper #3 - finalize and submit to journal
  • Paper #4 - finalize and submit to journal

Stretch goals:
  • Book #1 - format for publisher
  • Book #2 - work on proposal

Good progress on papers 3 and 4 this week. Think I'll get at least one out the door next week - and maybe both if my coauthor on #3 is able to prioritize.

Quote from: Parasaurolophus on June 06, 2025, 08:11:37 AMBit more time today. Will finish the notes, do a bit of the course stuff, and start on the refereeing.

Done the ID notes, read half the paper.
I know it's a genus.

I will chase down a few of the classical texts quoted in T4, then finish reading for referee report 1.

Did both.

When I'm back from a London conference, I should get back my copyedits and will do the final round of proofing the next week or two, get Book 2 to the press, and then go on holiday (vacation)!  This book is the last obligation I have for a long while, though I have another book contract which will be the activity for the next academic year.  I'm thinking as I'm now retired, this will be the last book for me.

I didn't have time for anything, but want to note a minor (but highly improbable victory): when the hatchling fell asleep I opened T4 to hunt down a couple of references while I made sure he was settled in, and I decided to take one last stab at a completely obscure reference which I'd spent hours failing to track down. And this time, I hit the magic combination of keywords!

Turns out the author's name was heavily corrupted, in ways which are impossible to predict. Well, maybe the corruption would make sense to a Swedish speaker. But anyway, I tracked the bugger down!

There's at least one other that I think is just impossible, though. I may end up turning to the Fora.
I know it's a genus.

Parasaurolophus

Not much time today, but I'll chase down a few more and start writing up a referee report.

Congratulations! How exciting!

I am at a conference now, and since my podcast episode about the forthcoming book came out today, I sent an email with the podcast link and a discount for book pre-orders to the organization's listserv. This organization is different than the one who is copublishing the book, but the fields are similar. It is fun to talk to people about it in person, but a shame the book is coming out in a few weeks instead of while I am here!
